PRIMARY MEMORY and
SECONDARY MEMORY
Memory is needed to store data and retrieve it when needed.
Computers have two kind of memory, one is primary and another is secondary.
Secondary memory is commonly known as just storage. It's used to store files
when they are not needed by the processors. The examples are HDD, SSD, USB
Drives, SD Cards etc.
Primary memory example could be RAM, ROM, L1 & L2 Cache,
Registers etc. Processor works as a primary memory too since they have limited
storage too.
PRIMARY MEMORY
It is the main memory where the data and information are
started temporally.
Data is directly access by the processing unit.
Its volatile memory meaning data cannot be retained in case
of power fallow.
Memory is started in semiconductor chips which are relative
expensive.
It cap categorized into cache memory and random access
memory [RAM].
It’s relatively faster than secondary because of its
volatile nature.
It holds data or information that is currently being used by
the processing unit.
SECONDARY MEMORY
It refers to the enter memory where data is stored
permanently.
Data is cannot be accessed directly by the process.
It is non-volatile memory data can be return even after
power fallow.
Memory is started in eternal storage devices such as hard
disc flash E.T.C.
They are permanent storage devices such as CD, DVD, HDD, and
FLOPPY DISC, etc
They are usually slower than primary memory it’s liked
backup mend.
It stores substantial amount of data and information ranging
from gigabytes of terabytes.
