Various components of CPU.

CPU is divided into three main parts:

1.Control Unit [CU]: The control is the circuitry that controls the flows of information through the processor, and coordinates the activities of the other units within it. It controls what happens inside the processor, which in turn control the rest of the computer. It decodes each program instruction into a series of control signals, and then executes them by sending and retrieving the data, to and from memory locations or other section of the computer. 

 2.Arithmetic or Logic Unit [ALU]: All processor contains an arithmetic or logic unit, which is often referred to simply as the ALU. The ALU, as its name implies, is that portion of the CPU hardware, which perform the arithmetic and logical operation on the binary data. Addition and subtraction are example of arithmetic operation. NOT, AND, OR, left and right shift are example of logical operation.

3.Memory Unit [MU]: The memory unit is that part of the computer, which stores instruction and data of a process until it is needed in the computing process. It also stores intermediate computation result that may needed for further computations. It gets data form input or secondary storage devices and upon sends the final results of computation to output devices or secondary storage device.
