DVD-Drive

have to manage the DVD drive properly in order to avoid problems. In case a
problem occurs, troubleshooting the drive will help to a great extent. Troubleshooting
the DVD drive is very important, as a faulty drive can damage the DVD. This can

ODD not able to read
the disks
The disk is inserted in the drive is not playing. There can
be many reasons for this problem. The disk may be corrupted or it is possible
that the drive is faulty.
1. Check the disc for scratches on the surface. Also check if
it is clean. if the disc is unclean, use a soft linen cloth to clean it. Do not
use circular motions. Clean from the center outwards in a radial manner.
2.Play another disc in the drive. If this disc is playing fine,
it is possible that the disc is dirty or corrupted.
3. Check if the drive light glows when you insert the disc in
the drive. If the light does not glow the system may not be detecting the
drive.
4.Clean the drive with a cleaning disk. If the drive still
does not play the disk after being cleaned, the drive is faulty.
5. Access the BIOS to check that the BIOS is recognizing the
drive.
6. Check if the interface and power cables of the DVD drive are
connected property.
BIOS Cannot Detect
the Drive
The system cannot read data from the drive if the drive is
not detected by BIOS. The light on the drive also does not glow when a disc is
inserted in the drive.
To solve this
problem:
1. Restore the BIOS settings to factory default settings and then
check if the drive detected in the BIOS.
2. Check if the interface cable connecting the drive to the
motherboard is property connected.
3. Check the cable supplying power to the drive is properly
connected.
4. Finally, check if the drive is defective by testing it on a
different system.
Power LED is not
glowing in the DVD Drive
Internal drives receive power from the computer's power supply.
If the other parts of the computer is problem-free; it means the power supply
is not at fault.
1. Connect a different power supply to the drive.
2. If the drive does not start working even after the power supply
connection is replaced, then check the LED.
3. Replace the drive.
The Tray of the DVD Drive is Not Opening
1. Restart the computer. Then try to open the tray.
2. If the tray does not open after restarting, check the BIOS
settings to see if the computer recognizes the drive.
3. Shut down and unplug the computer. Use a paperclip to insert
in the pinhole on the front of the DVD drive. Push the paperclip and try to open
the tray a little and then open with your fingers.
