Wired Network Vs Wireless Network

WLAN

Wired Network and wireless Network
Wireless technologies allow one or more devices to communicate with each other without any physical connections such as cables. Wireless technology use radio frequency transmission. for transmitting data. wheres wired networking cables to be connected to each and every computer in the network.

Differences between wired network and wireless network.
  Wired Network
1.Wired networking requires cables to be connected to each and  every computer in the network. it becomes difficult to run cables through walls and under the floor making it time consuming.

2. Low noise signal.

3.Wired LAN offers batter performance as compared to wireless network can offer 1000Mbps bandwidth using Fast Ethernet technology but traditional Ethernet provides speeds up to 100Mbps.

4. Ethernet cables switches, and hubs used in wired network are reliable. one of the problems that might occur in wired network is loose cable connections.

5.Wired network is more secured as compared to wireless network as the devices are directly connected to Switch.

6. Existing wired network can be expanded by adding hubs and switches along with laying cables. so it is tedious job to expand wired network.

Wireless Network

1. Wireless network can be configured in two ways. Ad hoc or infrastructure mode. wireless devices require WLAN cards and access points for communication. So installing a wireless network is quite simple as compared to wired network.

2. High noise signal.

3. Maximum bandwidth provided by wireless network is about 600mbps however ,802.11a and 802.11g provides  speed up to 54mbps. also ,the performance degrades if the distance between the computer and the access point increases or more devices utilize the WLAN.

4. Reliability of wireless network is less as compared to wired network. the main concern in wireless networks is interference from appliances using same frequency spectrum. however with the proper installation the interference can be minimized.

5. Wireless Network is less secured as hackers can access the wireless network from outside. Still, WLAN use Wife Protected Access (WPA) encryption  to project the data. This makes wireless network as secure as wired networks.

6. Mobility of wireless network is batter as compared to wired networks. laptops and  other mobile computing devices can be moved around freely within the wireless network range.

7. Wireless Network Symbol.
