The credential supplied are not sufficient to access this printer - Solved

"The credential supplied are not sufficient to access this printer" Error display when connect shared printer.

Sharing Printer Between windows 10 and windows XP

"The credential supplied are not sufficient to access this printer" this error comes when we access shared printer in windows XP which is shared from windows 10 Computer
when we try to connect that printer it will asking for administrator username and password but after entering username and password this error will appear and printer will not connect.

So friends i have got solution for this error, we have to add this shared printer manually by adding local printer on windows XP Computer.

In my scenario i have shared HP laser Jet 1020 in windows 10 PC as showing in image bellow.

1. windows 10 PC name is -   win10
2. shared printer name is   -   hp laserjet 1020

Sharing Name - HP Laserjet 1020
After sharing printer, just go to the client PC ( Windows XP) follow some easy steps
To add the shared Printer On Windows XP PC, please follow some steps.

First of all insert HP Laser jet 1020 CD  On this computer (windows XP PC).

Now go to the start and  click on Printer and faxes.

In printer and Faxes click add printer (showing in left side upper corner).

Add printer wizard will appear,  here click "Next".

As you click on "Next", hear showing two options,

           * Local Printer Attached to this Computer.

           * A network Printer, or a printer attached to another computer.

Here select - Local printer attached to this computer and click "Next"

Now here showing two options

          * Use the following port

          * Create a new port

Here select create a new port and Click on "Next" button

Now port name window will appear. In this window we have to give the path of print server means that PC where printer is installed and shared.

The  port name should be like this.

\\computername\shared printer name

In my case i have give the port name as given in bellow image

\\win10\hp laserjet 1020

"win10" is my print server name and hp laserjet 1020 is shared printer name

After entering port name just click on "OK" button, now it will ask for administrator username and password  of print server
hear enter administrator username and password of win10 PC.

Now it will search for printer driver. remember step:1 when we inserted printer CD now it needed .

In this window, click "Have Disk" option

Now click on Brows button then brown my computer  and open Hp laser jet CD.

In CD find the Autorun.inf  file  (File name can be changed for different- different printers but you have to select only a file named with .inf extension  ) select this file and click open and click Next.

Now it will ask " Do you want to keep existing driver or use the new one ? "
hear select Replace existing driver and then click on "Next" button.

Hear printer name dialog box will appear just keep as it is default name and click on "Next"button.

Now it will ask for Test print. Hear select "No" and click on "Next" button.

Now it will copy the driver files from CD.

After finishing copy process just click on "Finish" button. Now printer adding process in done just give the test print and check it.

Note: when you access the print server (win10 PC) just save  that credential in windows XP PC Enter username and password then  do check on remember my password and then click OK as given in bellow image.

If your PC never remember print server password then after restarting the computer the printer will show's "Offline" and you can,t print on that printer so please check on remember my password and then click "OK" now it is saved on your computer and never forgot after restarting PC.
